Built into a series of arches which once housed huge cannons guarding the Solent the Aquarium concentrates mainly on the native fish and invertebrate life found around the Isle of Wight, most visitors are amazed that such a diversity can be found locally - from graceful rays to fearsome spider crabs, a favourite is the Cuttlefish, its skin literally pulsating with colour before your eyes. A separate section contains some inhabitants of tropical reefs - beautiful but venomous Lionfish, bizarre Seahorses, Pufferfish, Boxfish and a rather popular Clownfish!

The Aquarium is both a fascinating family visit and a popular educational visit for schools and other groups.
